GUADALUPE ISLAND, Mexico — Discovery Channel shark expert Mauricio Hoyos Padilla just posted another video from a 2013 dive near Mexico’s Guadalupe Island where he encountered what he called “the biggest great white shark ever filmed.”
The new footage shows the massive shark, who researchers named “Deep Blue,” swimming up to a steel cage where divers stared in awe.
Deep Blue is 20 feet in length and is believed to be about 50 years old, according to GrindTV. She also appears to be pregnant, which adds to her menacing size.
The dive was part of a tagging effort by Hoyos and other researchers that was being filmed for the Discovery network’s “Shark Week.” Hoyos recently came across the unpublished video of Deep Blue and wanted to share it with the world.
